Paramaribo
Paramaribo, the capital of Suriname, boasts a historic center unique in Latin America and the Caribbean, featuring beautiful wooden architecture dating back to the 16th and 17th centuries, a blend of Dutch construction techniques and South American materials. Designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site, don't leave Paramaribo without seeing the panoramic view of the port.
Requirements for travel to Suriname:
- All travelers must present a passport valid for at least six (6) months.
- A return ticket is mandatory for all passengers, except for those with a valid residence permit.
- A valid entry permit** or tourist card is required for entry.
- All travelers must complete the immigration electronic application at
https://icf.sr/start/. - Yellow Fever and Covid-19 Vaccination Card*.
- Proof of a paid hotel reservation covering the entire stay is required for tourism or business purposes. Residents are exempt from this requirement.
- Proof of sufficient funds for the duration of the stay must be provided, with a minimum of $25 per day (not including lodging expenses). Residents are exempt from this condition.
- Travel insurance, including worldwide medical coverage, must cover the entire stay in Suriname.
- Special guidelines apply for minors traveling alone or accompanied by only one parent:
- Children traveling to Suriname without one or both parents require authorization from the absent parent, documented by a notarized declaration.
- If the absent parent resides in Cuba, the document can be notarized locally in Cuba and then legalized at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
- If the absent parent resides in Suriname, the document can be obtained from the Embassy in Paramaribo. Appointments with the Cuban consul can be scheduled via WhatsApp at +5978685286 (text only, no calls), Monday through Friday, between 9:30 AM and 5:00 PM. Please ensure that the request is made at least 21 business days before the child's travel date.
Note: Failure to comply with these requirements may result in the Immigration Service denying entry to Suriname.
* The COVID vaccination card must only have the clinic stamp. It does not need to be legalized.
